The original TI-30, introduced in 1976 was Texas Instruments’ first low cost scientific calculator. Similar to most pocket calculators of the era, the display uses bubble LED technology, however the display only has an eight digit mantissa, which is reduced to five digits when exponents are used.

Released in 1993, the TI-30X continued with a very similar design to the previous generations of TI-30 series models. This model uses a single line 10 digit segmented LCD display, with two additional digits for exponents.
