The TI-84 Plus CE is a color LCD graphing calculator from Texas Instruments.

In 2021, a variant with a faster co-processor was released, allowing it to run programs written in MicroPython.

Overview

The TI-84 Plus CE was released in 2015 as a successor to the less than well received TI-84 Plus C Silver Edition. It is a major improvement, with a much thinner design and faster, more modern processor.

Regional Variants

Mostly due to differing exam regulations, there are several distinct models of the TI-84 Plus CE released in different regions.[1]

In France, it is known as the TI-83 Premium CE and TI-83 Premium CE Edition Python.

In other European regions, it is known as the TI-84 Plus CE-T and TI-84 Plus CE-T Python Edition. The only notable difference is an LED that blinks while in Press-to-test mode.

Programming and Jailbreaking

By normal means on new OS versions, you can only write programs in TI Basic.

If you have a model with the extra co-processor (and Python suffix), you can write programs in MicroPython, although the slow processor and limited memory of the calculator make it less than ideal to use.

As of OS 5.5, TI has restricted the use of assembly programs. In response, YvanTT released a jailbreak known as arTIfiCE in 2020. It uses an exploit found in TI's Cabri Jr. application to gain full access to the calculator once again.
